The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s most iconic routes, connecting the valleys of Paro and Thimphu through ancient wilderness and high-altitude ridges. This moderately strenuous journey winds past a series of sacred, trout-filled alpine lakes and offers expansive views of the snow-capped Himalayas. Along the way, trekkers encounter historic dzongs and monasteries, providing a deep sense of Bhutan’s spiritual and natural heritage.
Valley-to-Valley Traverse: Experience the unique transition from the historic Paro valley to the capital city of Thimphu via a high-altitude wilderness corridor.
Sacred Alpine Lakes: Camp near the beautiful Jimilangtso and Janetso lakes, which are steeped in local folklore and surrounded by rugged mountain scenery.
Historic Fortresses: Visit the ruins of Jele Dzong and the Phajoding Monastery, offering a glimpse into the ancient defensive and spiritual architecture of the kingdom.
Rhododendron Forests: Walk through dense forests of alpine rhododendrons that come alive with color during the spring blooming season.
Today is a short trek. The trek begins above the
National Museum; If the weather is clear the Paro valley and the snow-capped mountains can
be seen clearly. The campsite is near the old Jele Dzong. If the caretaker is there you can visit
the Dzong. Altitude 3,350m; Distance 10 Km; Time 3 - 4 hours.
The trek starts with a short climb and then passes
through a thick alpine forest of rhododendron and gradually climbs till we reach camp. You may
see yak herders around your campsite. Altitude 3,700m; Distance 12 Km; Time 4 - 5 hours.
The trail follows the ridge and on a clear day the views
of the mountains and valleys are beautiful. Camp is close to Lake Jimilangtso. Altitude 3,800m;
Distance 16 Km; Time 6/7 hours.
The trail takes you through dwarf rhododendron
trees past the lake of Janetso. Overnight camp.
From here we slowly descend down to
Phajoding Monastery from where Thimphu town is clearly visible at the valley floor. Our Car will
pick and drive to Thimphu.
Evening sightseeing in Thimphu. Visit Buddha Point, Visit to Memorial chorten.
Dinner and overnight at hotel.
